ALL IN THE GAME: Manning question is finally answered

CROSSVILLE — It did take long enough, but the question of where Peyton Manning would end his professional football career is now answered. It goes without saying that his decision has really upset many fans in Tennessee. Apparently it wasn't just the money that influenced him, as Bud Adams was willing to open his checkbook as wide as possible.

It's hard for me to understand why he would choose Denver due to the weather out there and he has been accustomed to playing in a dome, but I'm sure that he had valid reasons for coming to the conclusion that he did.

I feel bad for Tim Tebow, but with his attitude I'm sure that he will find the bright side and a blessing to it all. I just wish he had been traded to somewhere other than New York. He's had to endure enough without that being thrust upon him. I'm sure that both young men will handle things well.

Well, my Commodores fell back into the not-so-good team in their game against Wisconsin and their inconsistency did them in. At least their departure now leaves me more time to get my garden prepared. See I, too, can find a bright side. At least the Gators are still in it and if Kentucky wins, it all I will loudly proclaim that we beat the national champions.

Volunteer fans can also fret about inconsistency as their team suffered through a dreadful scoreless few minutes in a loss to MTSU. They do have something to look forward to next season though, while we Vanderbilt followers are losing most of our team to graduation. Hopefully John Jenkins will return for his final season.

Congratulations to the Stone Memorial Panthers. Though they didn't take it all they did set a new milestone and they had a season to be proud of. Special kudos go out to Brandon Cole for being a finalist for Class AA Mr. Basketball. That's quite an honor.

I'm not big on buying books, but I may try to borrow a copy of the Hank Haney tales of Tiger Woods. The few excerpts I've seen do make me want to read more.

The best weekend in golf is coming up and I always get excited about the Masters. It's Augusta's version of the old Diamond Jim at Lake Tansi Village. I'll never forget my first guided tour of that beautiful piece of property led by none other than Tom Looney. Probably one of the nicer things he has ever done. Put your money on Rory McIlroy to win it all.

Enjoy your week and it will be hard not to with the beautiful weather we are having. It makes us professional gardeners smile.

Go Jets! Go Panthers! Go USA!
