A total of 11 Stone Memorial High School athletes advanced to the Class A/AA sectional track and field meet, which was held in Chattanooga on Tuesday and at least two and possibly four will be going on to the state competition in Murfreesboro next week.

Coach Mark Wattenbarger said, "We did really well in Chattanooga setting four new school records. Kelli Keck and Cameron Fox automatically advanced to the state competition and Briar Pierce and Kayla Daniell finished third in their events and stand a really good chance of advancing."

Keck set a new record in the triple jump at 35' 4".

Pierce also raised the Stone standard in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.99. Daniell's time in the mile was a new school mark of 5:30.48 and the 4 x 800 team of Jacob Simmons, Dustin Dishman, Cameron Thompson and Matt Mifflin finished in the record time of 9:13.79.

Cameron Fox won the sectional high jump championship and this was the first ever sectional championship for the Panthers.

Wattenbarger said, "Cameron got into the state meet last year on a wild card and brought home a state title. We look for him to do really well again."

The state competition will take place on Thursday and Friday of next week at MTSU.
