Lady Jet Amber Johnson is ready to take off from second base during last weekend’s Gordonsville Tournament played at Cane Creek in Cookeville.

The Cumberland County High School Lady Jet softball team finished last week with a 3-2 record, beating District 6AAA foe 6-1 and finishing 2-2 in the Gordonsville Tournament played Friday and Saturday at Cane Creek Complex in Cookeville.

Bailey Woods brought home the go-ahead run to give CCHS Lady Jets the lead in the sixth inning, as CCHS Lady Jets hung on to beat Rhea County 6-1 on Thursday. After Erin Dille walked, Bailey came to the plate with CCHS Lady Jets trailing by one in the sixth inning, and tripled, scoring Erin and Emily Terpenning.

Bailey Woods racked up two RBIs on one hit for CCHS Lady Jets. Amber Johnson got on base three times in the game for CCHS Lady Jets. She also drove in two runners. She singled in the sixth inning. Pitcher Sam Hassler got the win for CCHS Lady Jets.

Hassler had four strike outs, walked three and gave up five hits. Rhea County managed to score one run in the first inning on a passed ball.

Gordonsville Tournament

Whitwell 3, CCHS 2: The Lady Jets came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 3-2 ballgame against Whitwell on Friday.

CCHS 4, St. Peters Townshi, PA, 1: Three first-inning runs helped the Lady Jets to the win over St. Peter's Township on Friday

CCHS 9, Livingston 2: A nine-run first-inning  sparked the victory over the Lady Wildcats.

Upperman 4, CCHS 0: The Lady Jets came up short in the first round of elimination play  Saturday with the 4-0 loss to Upperman.

Schedule: The Lady Jets (5-6) traveled to Christian Academy of Knoxville Monday and has home games Thursday with Warren County and Friday against Rhea County.
