In honor of Stone Memorial High School's sport-wide "Pink Out," Lee Ann Sherrill and Louise Simmons honored the Panther baseball team in throwing out the first pitch. That was the only highlight of the evening, as the Panthers struggled on the field to lose 9-0 to the District 6AAA regular season champs.

Mark McDonald took the loss on the mound, allowing nine runs on nine hits with four strikeouts, five walks and two hit batsmen.

John David Edginton pocketed the win, allowing one hit with five strikeouts and 3 walks.

Cookeville scored two runs in the top of the second inning, and were held scoreless until the fifth inning when they posted five additional runs to take a seven run lead.

The Panthers held their opponents scoreless in the sixth, but the Cavaliers scored two more runs in the seventh before John Martin came in for relief to get the final two outs.

Brandon Cole punched the Panthers only base hit in the top of the second in the shut out.

SMHS entered the last week of the season with a 14-7 loss at South Pittsburg Friday and at CAK Monday. Saturday's game at Livingston was canceled.

The last home game is tonight against Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) for senior night. The District 4AA Tournament begins this weekend. Opponent and site will be determined this week.
