Youth Expo pre-exhibit now open

CROSSVILLE — In preparation for the annual CACE Youth Expo, scheduled for the second Saturday in April, April 12, at the Community Complex, several parts of the project have been completed.

Phase One was accomplished by the visual art instructors (teachers) of the public schools. Each teacher was asked to chose eight items to be part of the pre-exhibit.

Phase Two is the pre-exhibit at three public locations in Cumberland County. Now hanging at the Art Circle Public Library are works by students from Martin Elementary School, Pine View Elementary School, and Stone Elementary School. At Crossville City Hall are works by students from Crab Orchard Elementary School and Pleasant Hill Elementary School. At the Palace Theatre are works by students from South Elementary School and Cumberland County High School.

The 54 pieces in this pre-exhibit were matted by Mikki’s Frame Shop. Expenses were shared by CACE and by Mikki Kavich.

Four schools (Brown Elementary, Homestead Elementary, North Cumberland Elementary, and Stone Memorial High School) were unable to participate in the pre-exhibit but will be participating in the Youth Expo.

The public is invited to a large exhibit of student works at the annual CACE Youth Expo, Saturday, April 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Community Complex (fairgrounds). In addition to the art exhibit of hundreds of works, there will be student musical performances. Adult instructors will provide "hands-on" experiences for youth in traditional and modern arts, crafts, music, and writing. There is no admission charge for the Youth Expo event.
