Open house set Aug. 3 at Christian Academy of the Cumberlands

Submitted

— CAC invites the public to an open house on Aug. 3 from noon to 3 p.m. at their newly constructed addition on their existing campus. Come visit the new facilities and enjoy the inflatables for children, food and fun.

The school campus is now a total of over 17,000 square feet serving students ages 2 years through 12th grade! It is conveniently located off of Genesis Road on Braun Street in the heart of Crossville. CAC’s facilities include wireless academic classrooms with accelerated reading and math programs, Smart boards, fine arts rooms, library, a science lab, computer lab, multi-purpose Great Room and a high school cafe.

The philosophy of CAC is based on three tenants: a Christian worldview, academic excellence and character. Programs are designed to engage each student in the active pursuit of knowledge. Strong personal relationships within the school community provide a foundation to nurture and cultivate knowledge, character and godly leadership.

CAC has a highly qualified principal, Douglas Reid, with an outstanding reputation in the community and over 30 years of experience. Together, longtime founder Alicia Jones and Douglas Reid are leading the school to impact the community by equipping students to acquire wisdom, knowledge, and a biblical worldview. CAC’s elementary and high school teachers have bachelor’s degrees or higher in education and are certified in their grade level.

The private school offers small class sizes, multiple technologies, an enriched curriculum and hands-on learning experiences intended to promote critical thinking and communication skills. Students are encouraged to achieve their personal best as they prepare to meet the demands of a future that promises the challenge of constant change.

Because the school community recognizes the importance of individual relationships between students, teachers, parents and other community leaders, students participate in service projects for area non-profit organizations and ministries. CAC is a school with small town values and global vision. Parents can choose small, but think big!

CAC has carved a unique educational niche in the private school market. CAC is the only preschool-12th grade Christian school in Cumberland County independent of a particular church or denomination. Students have received state recognition for academic competitions including a 2012 Tennessee Governor’s School Scholar, state spelling bee winners, and regional math competitions. In addition, National Achievement testing is in the top percentile in the nation compared with national averages, not just in comparison with other Tennessee schools.

The athletic program includes a wide range of sports including volleyball, cross-country, basketball, and cheerleading. CAC seeks to graduate students who have developed an awareness of his or her role as a contributor to the world around them. The measure of this contribution centers on a continued realization of critical thinking skills, leadership skills, communication skills, and a strong sense of purpose. This unique school strives to provide students with a strong foundation to explore intellectually, see creatively, and live compassionately.

The middle and high school course curriculum is designed to be rigorous and college preparatory in nature. Fully accredited courses are available. An experienced and diverse faculty contributes a wide range of educational components that help shape course offerings to include critical thinking. CAC also offers courses to home school students for a monthly fee.

Because CAC chooses not to accept government funding, students are free to pray, read the Bible, and have Bible classes daily without fear. CAC receives funding from area donors and student tuition. Tuition is cost effective and may be paid in monthly installments. Multiple child discounts and a limited number of scholarships are available.

CAC also maintains a dual enrollment agreement with Roane State Community College where students can earn college credits while still in high school. Their honors students have been recognized for outstanding achievement amongst their peers in the college setting. College acceptance rate for the graduates of 2013 was 100%, and graduates were offered numerous scholarships. Several CAC alumni are impacting the world around them as college graduates in the professions of teaching, medicine, business, and engineering.
