COCCO takes part in All-East Junior High Orchestra Clinic

CROSSVILLE — On Nov. 14-15, ten students from the Children of Crossville Chamber Orchestra represented Cumbedand County in the All-East Junior Hlgh Orchestra Clinic held at the Chattanooga School of Arts and Sciences in Chattanooga. About 150 students auditioned to participate in the clinic.

Participating students came from the following schools: McCallie, Chattanooga School of Arts and Sciences, Girls Prep School, Chattanooga Center of the Arts, Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts, Hixson Middle School, Hixson Hlgh School, Signal Mountain Middle School, Signal Mountain High School and the Children of Crossville Chamber Orchestra.

There were two orchestras held at the clinic. The blue orchestra was conducted by Laurie Minner, music director at Southern Adventist University in Collegedale. The red orchestra was conducted by Sandy Morris, conductor of the Chattanooga Youth Symphony.

The participating students in the red orchestra were Emery Smith (first violin), James Michael Garrett (principal cello) and Jordan Howe (viola). Participating in the blue orchestra were Tyler Pyles (cello), Danielle Rosser (principal cello), William Smith (second violin), Maci Gernt (viola), Savanah Davis (first violin), Trenton Martin (second violin) and Jacob Howe (cello).
