CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County FFA Chapter is proud to recognize six outstanding individuals who received their American Degree on Nov. 2 at the 2013 86th National FFA Convention.

Those receiving degrees are  Carrie Marsh, Cassie Marsh, Payton Miller, Hayden Cox, Justin Dye and Robbie Miles.

The American Degree is awarded to members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA.  A few of the qualifications that the FFA member have accomplished are as followed: have received a State FFA Degree, have graduated from high school twelve months prior to the National FFA Convention at which their degree will be awarded, and have maintained a detailed Supervised Agricultural Experience, which demonstrates outstanding planning, managerial, and financial skills.

Approximately 3,500 American Degrees are awarded each year at the National FFA Convention.  This number represents less than half of one percent of all FFA members, which makes it one of the organization’s highest honors.
