Pleasant Hill Elementary celebrated literacy on Saturday, March 8. Read Across America Week is celebrated every year around March 2 in honor of the birthday of Dr. Seuss.
Pleasant Hill teachers, assistants, students and families gathered to hear stories, make snacks, and crafts in order to build a love for reading. The event was made possible by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant from the state of Tennessee and by all of the wonderful folks who worked so hard to plan reading fun for kids of all ages.
Every child who attended received a Cat in the Hat pencil and bookmark and a book of their choice. Their next event will be April 10 at 6 p.m. with the author of "V is for Volunteer," Michael Shoulders.
