Applications sought for Women's Club scholarship

Submitted

CROSSVILLE — The Upper Cumberland Women’s Club membership are women professionals, small business owners and retirees who meet every other month throughout the year at a variety of destinations across the Upper Cumberland region. The intent is to inspire, motivate and educate one another through networking, listening to guest speakers, and encouraging one another and the next generation of women through mentorship and a scholarship program.
It’s at this time each year the call goes out for submissions of scholarship applicants for the $1,000 scholarship by the paid membership of the group. (You don’t have to be a paid member to attend the meetings, but to submit someone for the scholarship process you do. More information on membership is below.) Kristina Denysova was the 2012 recipient of a $1,000 scholarship that has helped her further her education and pursue her dreams. Kristina is formerly of the Ukraine and came to Tennessee Technology University to pursue a degree in International Tourism Marketing.
The scholarship committee has finalized the application and rules for 2013. You can find more information and download the application from the scholarship link on the www.UpperCumberlandWomensClub.com website. Remember, nominations can only be submitted by paid members. So, if you aren't a member or haven't paid your dues for 2013, there's still time to do so. The deadline is September 16 and the winner will be announced at the October 22 luncheon. The award amount is still to be determined and will depend on the funding available at the time of the award. In addition, if you or your company would like to donate an additional amount specifically for this project, it would be greatly appreciated. By doing so, you will be recognized in the press release about the award and given the opportunity to be included in the picture to be submitted with the winner. The donation is also tax deductible. Sponsors above membership for the 2012 award were Blue Coast Burrito, Blue Heron Studios, Business Cumberland, Laurel Fork Rustic Retreat, and Red Cross/Jean Ann Mayberry with the Girls’ Night Out Event.

To join the Upper Cumberland Women’s Club, go to the www.UpperCumberlandWomensClub.com website and download the membership application. Fill it out and mail it to the address on the website along with your check for $25 (and any additional amount you might want to donate for the scholarship). Please also email a digital image that you would like to use with your listing on the website to ucwomensclub@gmail.com.
Also, you are cordially invited to participate in the August Luncheon to be held at Gondola in Cookeville on August 27. Come enjoy an informative luncheon with your friends and colleagues. The price is $15/person payable at the door. Please be sure to make your reservations as early as possible. You can reply by email to ucwomensclub@gmail.com to make your reservation and a reply will be sent to confirm receipt or you can mail your payment in advance to PO Box 112, Byrdstown, TN 38549.
There will be a table for a brochure swap, door prizes (if you would like to bring one) with networking and socializing after the meeting. Don’t delay. Reserve your seat today. This will allow us to prepare for the meeting as closely as possible and give the chef/cook a count.
