Crabtree scholarships awarded

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County Playhouse is proud to present a scholarship each year in memory of Mary D. Crabtree. The graduating seniors are chosen by the education committee. In addition to completing the application and providing letters of recommendation, students also submit an essay. This year, the winners of the scholarship were Fiona Retzer and Derek Wagner.

Retzer is graduating third in her class at CCHS. She has been involved at the Playhouse since 2004 and has appeared in several productions in addition to the performance education program's spring performances. This fall, Retzer will be attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and major in biomedical engineering.

Wagner is graduating from SMHS. He began his involvement at CCP less than three years ago, but he has really made his time count. Wagner has been in 22 productions and has choreographed and directed two cabarets. He will be attending Western Kentucky University this fall pursuing a Bachelor's of Arts in dance with a minor in business.
