UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Tennessee recently donated $40,000 to the Tennessee School Boards Association to support the Tennessee Healthier Schools Challenge. Last month, UnitedHealthcare CEO Scott Bowers helped present awards to the 57 school systems that successfully completed the challenge.
“We are so impressed with this program designed to teach our children the important connection between healthy behaviors and their academic success,” said Bowers. “To help advance this good work, we wholeheartedly support the Tennessee Healthier School’s Challenge program and commend the communities that have made the commitment to make a difference in the health and well-being of our children.”
Cumberland County Schools received Platinum Award status for meeting 11 out of 12 criteria in the Tennessee Healthier Schools Challenge. The award, which includes a $5,000 grant to the school system, was presented at a recognition event at Opryland Hotel in Nashville on Nov. 14.
