Art Guild's Picture Person Program continues in Cumberland County schools

CROSSVILLE — Art education stimulates the imagination and enlarges our vision of the world. To compliment the elementary art instruction provided in Cumberland County classrooms, the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade has continued their “Picture Person Program” through the 2012-2013 school year.

Initiated in 2003, this program has provided volunteers to fourth-grade art classes or homerooms to introduce the art works of Old Masters and contemporary artists to county children. Volunteers help teach the appreciation of Fine Art to these students and help promote discussion with students through reflective dialog, calling attention to design elements and emotional response. Where extra time is granted, volunteers carry out art projects to reinforce the discussion points.

The Picture Person Program has donated art supplies to various schools for their art classrooms. This is made possible by funds earned by the Art Guild Golf Tournament. The outreach efforts of the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade are designed to enrich the art experience for the school children in Cumberland County.
