100 days of school

CROSSVILLE — Crossville Christian School students celebrated 100 days of school. They are wearing their “100” day glasses they each made and designed.

    Art student Karen Short of Crossville will host an opening reception for her senior thesis painting show on Sunday, April 20. The reception will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Tennessee Tech University, in the lobby of the Bryan Fine Arts building.

    Thursday, Feb. 27, the Phoenix School played host to parents, guardians and the public for parent-teacher conferences and open house. As an incentive for bringing a parent or guardian, students having a parent/guardian attend had their names entered into a drawing for three gift cards. Students winning gifts cards were LaMesha Taylor, Randy Nelson and Bryant Oakes.

    Frank P. Brown Elementary students, faculty and staff would like to thank Food City for its support through the School Bucks program and community members who participate in the program. Friends and family register at a Food City location and shop to earn points throughout the school year to contribute toward a monetary reward for a selected school. Brown Elementary received $1,112 for the 2012-2013 school year with the School Bucks program, which was allocated for instructional materials. BES appreciates the involvement of the community to encourage student achievement.

    Attention students: Have you been procrastinating about your college finances? If you’re a high school senior or college student and leaning towards a career in some form of agriculture or horticulture field, there’s still time to apply for a scholarship from the Fairfield Glade Garden Club.

    The Panther Tales Players, Stone Memorial’s theatre group, has joined forces with the advanced choir, culinary arts, visual arts, the jazz band, and carpentry class to invite you to the theatre lobby and auditorium for SMHS’s Festival of the Arts on Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m.

    The annual Youth Expo is a time for youth to experience traditional and modern arts, crafts, writing, and music, all at no cost. Adults from various cultural arts organizations in Cumberland County will allow students to weave on looms, play dulcimers, paint, fold paper and do creative writing.
