Frank P. Brown Elementary School hosted the 8th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 8. Many veterans, city and county officials, and special guests were in attendance.
Pre-K through third-grade classes sang patriotic favorites, including, “Yankee Doodle,” “America” and “Red, White, and Blue.” Fourth-grade students presented their traditional musical with sign language to “God Bless the USA.”
Guest speaker Bill Ward, Cumberland County Veterans Service Officer, recognized the veterans in attendance. He stated that those who have served our country are real “heroes” and role models for young people today. Ward reminded us to thank our veterans and military men and women any time that we meet them throughout the year.
In spite of an unexpected power outage during the program, the ceremony was a great success. The Brown Elementary PTO held a reception for the veterans and their families in the school cafeteria.
Brown Elementary School would like to express our appreciation to all of the veterans, their families, and community members who attended the Veterans Day Ceremony and reception. It was an honor hosting this event, remembering the men and women who have given so much for our country.
