Jet Theatrix, Panther Players team up for 'The Trial of Goldilocks'

CCHS Jet Theatrix Drama Club is pleased to announce its 2009 Fall Production, "The Trial of Goldilocks," by Joseph Robinette.

In rhyme, mime and mirth, this exciting comedy examines the familiar fairytale from three points of view: the traditional, the Bears', then Goldilocks'. Guilty or innocent? Was the young girl a selfish, spoiled brat, intruding where she didn't belong? Or was she the victim of three conniving bears (and their animal "band of hoods" in the woods)? Complete with a hard-of-hearing judge, a harried clerk, two comic lawyers and a jury which gets involved in the action as tables, chairs, beds and forest animals — this charming comedy is perfect for audiences of all ages. From the opening moment, when three vendors attempt to hawk souvenirs among the audience, to the surprising verdict from the jury and and "happily-ever-after" conclusion, this play, performed completely in verse, is both unique and enchanting. Highly educational and entertaining!

This production is appropriate for children of all ages from 2-99, and is clean, fun entertainment for the whole family. There will be one public performance at the Palace Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. General admission is $5.

There will also be two bonus performances of The Trial of Goldilocks at the SMHS auditorium on Nov. 20 and 21, with the Jet Theatrix troupe playing alongside the SMHS Panther Tales Players, who will perform the one-act comedy, Scheme of the Driftless Shifter.   Admission to these special performances, the first cross-town collaboration of its kind, is $5. Proceeds will be split between the two clubs, benefiting the dramatic arts programs at both high schools.

Both productions are appropriate for family audiences of all ages.  CCHS drama director Angela Robbins, and SMHS director Ned Serleth, as well as all of the student talent from both schools, hope to see the community turn out for this fine evening of family entertainment.   For more information about the drama programs and future productions, contact Angela Robbins at CCHS, and Ned Serleth at SMHS.
