Tennessee Technology Center treated to year-ending party

At the end of each semester, Tennessee Technology Center at Crossville hosts an awards celebration complete with a pizza party is held to recognize outstanding high school students. Each student receives an Articulated Achievement Award which lists the course completed. This certificate may be used should a student decide to continue their training on a post secondary level. High school students returning to TTCC will automatically be advance placed when continuing in the same field. RSCC also accepts credits towards an associate degree.

The Student of the Semester award for the 2009 spring semester was presented to Corey Carter, a student enrolled in the early childhood education program. She receives a tuition scholarship should she enroll in a TTCC program after graduating from high school.

According to her instructor, Lucinda Whittenburg, “Corey comes to class with a warm smile every day. She is a sheer joy to the children of Campus Kids Corner as she delights them with her well planned learning activities and genuine love for each child. Her natural love and dedication to young children, her strong leadership skills and positive attitude will serve her well in her future.”

Corey is a junior at Stone Memorial High School and is the daughter of Terry and Miriam Carter of Westel.

Other nominees for the Student of the Semester award include Dustin Brown, masonry, the son of Teresa and Steve Kirby and Jim Brown. Dustin is a senior at Phoenix. After graduation Dustin plans to return to TTCC and enroll in the electronics program.
