The Cumberland Countians for Peace and Justice organization recently donated economic and environmental books to Stone Memorial High School and the Cumberland County High School.
Those books are:
Green Space, Green Time: The Way of Science by Connie Barlow. Barlow explores both established and new fields in the biological sciences to show how science intersects realms of meaning and value.
Enough: Staying Human in an Engineered Age by Bill McKibben. McKibben explores the frontiers of genetic engineering, robotics, and nanotechnology and what it means to be human.
Common Ground: A Priest and a Rabbi Read Scripture Together by Andrew M. Greeley and Jacob Neusner. A controversial liberal priest and an equally controversial conservative rabbi discuss and debate scripture, offering a remarkable testament to a common heritage.
More Fun Less Stuff Starter Kit by Betsy Taylor of the Center for a New American Dream. This is a step-by-step account of how Americans can help to save the planet and move on to a more agreeable lifestyle.
Cumberland Countians for Peace and Justice is a coalition of individuals in Cumberland County with a deep concern for establishing justice and peace within and between persons, groups, communities, nations, and ecosystems.
