Martha Louise Walker, 99, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 26, 2013, at Life Care Center of Crossville in Crossville. A graveside service will held at Crossville City Cemetery Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Jerry Mayo officiating.
She was born July 10, 1914, in Crab Orchard, the daughter of the late Newton Duggins Walker Sr. and Nettye (Rose) Walker.
She was a graduate of Cumberland Mountain School and Tennessee Technological University. She worked at her father's business, Southern States Lime Corporation in Crab Orchard, and also taught for several years in Cumberland County. She worked in the payroll and finance department of Camp Crossville, the prisoner of war camp, during World War II, and later moved to Oak Ridge where she worked in accounting for the Eastland Company during the days of the "Secret City."
Wanting to be closer to home, she returned to Crossville and worked for Cosby Harrison during the founding of Trade-A-Plane and Rock and Dirt. She was very proud of the publication and worked there until her retirement.
Louise was active in many community organizations and boards, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, Top Town Garden Club, Art Circle Library, Cumberland County Playhouse and Pleasant Hill Wharton Home. She was recipient of Business Woman of the Year honors.
In addition to her family and friends, Louise loved art, golf and local high school and college athletics. She always placed an importance on education.
She is survived by her brother, Robert R. Walker of Crossville; nieces and nephews, Hugh Walker, Ann Self Lowen, Nancy Self, Neil Southerland, Sarah Southerland Clarke, Rachel Eubank, Rosalee Walker Dyer, Tim Walker, Mike Webster and Dugg McDonough; great-nieces and -nephews, Scott Walker, Molly Eubank, Corrie Dyer, Cassie Dyer, Chaylin Dyer, Raya Walker, Jaret Walker, Curran Clarke, Mac Clarke and Kristie Dyer; and great-great-nieces and -nephews, McKenna Langley and Realynn Dyer.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Newton D. Walker Jr. and Van Smith Walker; sisters, Nettye Sue Self, Julia Southerland and Evelyn Rose McDonough; and nephew, John Walker.
The family would like to sincerely thank her neighbors and caregivers who made it possible for her to stay at home and enjoy her life here on the Cumberland Plateau.

Earle Phillips Jr., born Columbus, OH, 1922, passed away Nov. 29, 2013, in Atlanta, GA. A memorial service is planned for early spring at the Fairfield Glade Methodist Church in Fairfield Glade. It will be announced at a later date.
Barbara Ann (Stuhlmacher) Heeschen, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away peacefully at home Dec. 1, 2013, after a 20-year struggle with heart disease and ensuing complications.
William C. "Bill" West, 86, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 1, 2013. Funeral services were held Dec. 4 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Bro. Mike Kerley officiated, with special music by Jessi West.

Christopher Lynn Dishman
Dear, beloved son, brother, uncle, father and friend Christopher Lynn Dishman was born Sept. 21, 1970, in Muncie, IN, to Steve and Janet Dishman. The Lord and Savior took him Dec. 8, 2013. Family will receive friends today, Dec. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday 1 p.m. with Bro. Donnie Bell officiating. Burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

Joyce Burgess Croft, 70, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 5, 2013. Funeral services were held Dec. 8 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Pastor Steven Pickard officiated, with burial in the Allen Springs Cemetery.
Camille Barnwell Combs, 48, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 4, 2013. Funeral services were held Dec. 7 at Pine Grove Church of God of Prophecy. Bro. Jack Lawson officiated, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
A memorial service was held Dec. 6 at Trinity Tabernacle for Billy Kay Jones, who passed away at home Nov. 29, 2013, at the age of 58.
John William "Bill" Irvin, 85, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 2, 2013, at his home. A memorial service will be held today, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Tansi Community Church, with Dr. Paul Dixon officiating. Family will receive friends on Tuesday at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Cumberland County.
Roger Morris Goss, 65, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 1, 2013, at Renaissance Terrace in Harriman. Funeral services were held Dec. 5 at Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Jonathan Loveday officiating. Interment was in Price Cemetery.
