Sept. 23, 1934—July 30, 2013
Robert “Bob” Taylor Graves, 78, of Crossville, made his journey to heaven on July 30, 2013, in Crossville.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy Doris (Adair) Graves, and his children, Robert Timothy and wife, Rosanne, Randy Mitchell and wife, Teresa, Kevin John and wife, Kathy, and Darrin Shawn and friend, Patrycja; as well as four grandchildren, Cory Timothy and wife, Jen, Lindy Star and husband, Alberto, Joseph Paul and wife, Shelly, and Madeline Paige; and four great-grandchildren, Cameron Alexandra, Nicolas Alexander, Leah Morgan and Connor Timothy.
Robert was born in Trenton, TN, Sept. 23, 1934, the son of John I. and Stella M. (Fields) Graves. Soon after his birth, his family relocated to Pascola, MO, where, unbeknownst to him, the future love of his life was born and, ironically, he would meet hundreds of miles away in 1955.
While in Pascola, his family farmed and he attended Wardell High School. Upon the death of his mother when Robert was 16 years old, he moved to Benton Harbor, MI, to seek work. There he met his life-long companion, Peggy, whom he married in 1955. They eventually resettled in Battle Creek, MI, where he retired from Kelloggs in 1994 before moving to Crossville.
Throughout most of his life, his love of the outdoors shined. He became an avid gardener, creating an abundance of produce like no other. His dedication to his family was evident in the time spent taking them camping, fishing, hunting, and building things with them in his workshop. Amusement parks also became a family favorite and he never tired of the smiles on his children’s faces.
He will be dearly missed by the untold people he touched in his life. He was met by a proud God at the heavenly gates with his head held high after a lifetime of accomplishments and a life well lived.
“So long to our husband, our father, and our friend, but most of all to our Hero.
We Love you,
Us, your loving family.”
Services were held at Hood Funeral Home in Crossville Aug. 1, 2013. A graveside committal will be held today, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m. at his final resting place, Crossville City Cemetery, before his trip to heaven.
