Blanche H. Coultas

CROSSVILLE — Oct. 6, 1917—Jan. 8, 2014

Blanche Hillman Coultas passed away Jan. 8, 2014, in Crossville.

Mrs. Coultas was born in Spokane, WA, to Harry L. and Ada B. Hillman Oct. 6, 1917. She grew up in Santa Barbara, CA, and while attending Santa Barbara State College, met and married John H. Coultas. John was a fraternity brother of her older brother, Cleave Hillman.

Blanche and John lived in Oxnard, CA, where they raised two children. Son Johnny raised four boys in California, and daughter Christine married Dr. Richard Bilbrey of Tennessee while he was in the Navy stationed near Oxnard. They live in Crossville and have three children.

After the death of her husband in 1999, Blanche moved to Crossville to be near her daughter. She was soon asked to join the local P.E.O. chapter, as she had been a member of the organization for many years in California. In 2004, her son died in a tragic accident. 

Blanche is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  Her ashes are to be sent to Ventura, CA, to be buried with her husband and son.

There will be no memorial service; however, her family and friends will always remember how loving and special she was.

    Betty Jean Tollett, 80, of Crossville, passed away July 31, 2014, at her home. The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug. 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral home. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Minister Thom Hassler officiating. Burial will be in Linary Cemetery.

    Mary Margaret Ives Haack passed away July 27, 2014 in Crossville. She resided at Fairfield Glade Assisted Living near her daughter. She was 98. Memorial services for Mary will be in Muncie, IN.

    Harvey Alvis Derrick, 91, of the Grassy Cove community, passed away July 22, 2014. Funeral services were held July 26 at Grassy Cove United Methodist Church. The Rev. Martha Hale and the Rev. Monica Mowdy officiated, with burial in Hedgecoth Cemetery.

    Ruth Vicory Yoakum was born on May 9, 1912, to Wilma Pearl McCreary and Walter Carpenter Yoakum in Leavenworth, KS. She passed away on July 17, 2014, at the Wharton Homes at Uplands Village in Pleasant Hill. There will be a service of the worship of God in her memory at the Pleasant Hill Community Church in Pleasant Hill at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2.
