May 5, 1934—Nov. 11, 2012
Wilburn Lee Brown, 78, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 11, 2012. Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home Nov. 14, with Bro. Carl Brooks and Arthur Brown Jr. officiating. Interment was in Turner Cemetery.
He was born May 5, 1934, in Cumberland County, the son of the late Fred and Maude Brown.
Mr. Brown married Armeldia Elene Turner Dec. 29, 1953, and they had seven children. He was proud of his children and grandchildren for what they had done with their lives and enjoyed doing things with them. Something as simple as going out to a restaurant and eating a meal together was something he would tell everyone about.
He liked fishing, hunting, riding on Catoosa Wildlife Management area and Cades Cove looking for wildlife. He enjoyed attending auctions and tending his flea market booth. He said going to the flea market got him out of the house and gave him a chance to see family and friends that he probably would not get to see anywhere else.
He would testify to everyone how God had kept him here 16 years after a massive heart attack for some reason, he didn't know what it was, but he needed to do something before he was taken home. One thing he loved doing was helping out with church events at different churches. He cooked many hot dogs and hamburgers for crusades, dinners and gatherings.
He will be sadly missed by family and great many friends he made during his lifetime.
He is survived by his daughters, Janice Lowe and husband, Gary, Linda Carol Burnett and Ruth Elise McCoy and husband, Glen, all of Crossville; sons, William Roy Brown and wife, Renee, and Hershell Lynn Brown and wife, Michele, all of Crossville; brothers, Estille Brown of Dunlap, TN, and Eugene Brown of Crossville; sisters, Lorene Harding of Crossville and Irene Arrington of Florida; 25 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Armeldia Elene Brown; son, Wilburn Lee Brown Jr.; brothers, Ernest Brown, Arthur Brown and Hillis Brown; and sisters, Mildred Foss and Ruby Barnes; and great-grandson, Colt Allen McCoy.
Pallbearers were Jason Brown, Hershell Brown, Josh Brown, Dustin Brown, Ken Weigle, Lynn Brown, Dade Brown, Lukas Presley and Clayton Shelton.
Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
