Lillie Hinch

CROSSVILLE — March 9, 1919

Funeral services for Lillie Mae Pruitt Hinch were held May 27, 2012, at Claysville Methodist Church. The Rev. Martha Hale officiated. Burial was in Pomona Cemetery.

Mrs. Hinch was born March 9, 1919, in the small mill town of Buffalo, SC. She grew up and was educated in the town of Buffalo and Union, SC. During the closing year of World War II, she enlisted in the army and served at several hospitals, ending her career at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. Lillie May Pruitt was discharged from the Army May 15, 1947.

After her honorable discharge, she moved to Pleasant Hill and worked at Uplands Hospital where she met Dock Hinch Jr. They married in 1948 and lived in Pomona on a dairy farm. They had three children, Cathy, Gordon and Kevin. Lillie worked at Wharton Nursing Home from 1961 to 1999. She attended Claysville Methodist Church. She was a strong Christian woman who was devoted to her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Cathy Hinch Summers and husband, Phil, Gordon Hinch and wife, Trish, and Kevin Hinch and wife, Judy; grandchildren, Kacey Hinch Street and husband, Nobel, Jamie Hinch Lee and husband, Jason, Brooke Leeton, Shana Elmore and Brandy Robinson; and great-grandchildren, Sadie and Lexie Lee, Max and Jimmie Mae Street, Lillie Ann and Kayle Elmore, Jayden and Isabel.

Pallbearers were Jason Lee, Nobel Street, Paul Whittenburg, Bob Hinch, Bill Hinch and Joe Kilgore.

Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
