A funeral service celebrating the life of James Allen “Jim” Hickman, 81, of Newark, OH, was held Jan. 13 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 732 Hebron Rd., Heath, OH, with Pastor Kristin Santiago officiating.
Mr. Hickman passed away Jan. 5, 2014, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born March 11, 1932, in Newell, IA, to the late Clifford W. Hickman and Anna P. (Kair) Hickman-Ellis.
Jim was a 1950 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. He was employed at Chemi-Trol Chemical Company for 42 years, serving in sales, contract operations, operation manager and executive vice president. He retired in 1994 and continued to work part time as a sales consultant until 2000.
He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Heath, OH, past president of the Gibsonburg Exchange Club, Fairfield Glade Lions Club, member of and past president of Gibsonburg Exempted Village School Board, member of the Sandusky County School of Hope Board, Sandusky County Safety Council, Gibsonburg Cub Scout Master and Little League Baseball manager. His hobbies included golf, reading, cards, computer work and watching football and basketball games on television.
He is survived by his wife, Mary R. (Billingsley) Haff-Hickman, whom he married Nov. 29, 1985; three sons, Bradley J. Hickman of Port Clinton, OH, Bruce F. Hickman of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Brian A. Hickman of Port Clinton, OH; three stepsons, James (Judy) Haff of Newark, OH, Tom (Julie) Haff of Leo, IN, and John (Carol) Haff of Augusta, GA; two grandsons, Nathan A. (Zuzanna) Hickman of Titusville, FL, and Nicholas F. Hickman of Delaware; two granddaughters, Julianna M. (Peter) Schvarcz of Berlin Heights, OH, and Katelynn Hickman of Bowling Green, OH; three step-granddaughters, Lori (Gino) Daveggio of San Mateo, CA, Lisa (Adam) Grosse of Glenford, OH and Kristen A. Haff of Leo, IN; three great-granddaughters, Sophia Hickman and Grace and Anna Daveggio; four great-grandsons, Alex Hickman and Lance, Elijah and James Gross; two step-sisters, Joann (Ed) Borton of Dade City, FL, and Sandra (Phillip) Jones of Gibsonburg, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, who raised him, Kenneth B. Ellis; a son, Barton A. Hickman; and two step-brothers, Larry L. Ellis and Ronald P. Ellis.
A family burial will take place at Gibsonburg Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg, OH.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Salvation Army or the Lions Club.
The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service, 1249 Hebron Rd., Heath, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ruth Vicory Yoakum was born on May 9, 1912, to Wilma Pearl McCreary and Walter Carpenter Yoakum in Leavenworth, KS. She passed away on July 17, 2014, at the Wharton Homes at Uplands Village in Pleasant Hill. There will be a service of the worship of God in her memory at the Pleasant Hill Community Church in Pleasant Hill at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2.
William “Bill” Fancher Graham, 70, of Crossville, passed away peacefully at home July 19, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with malignant lymphoma. Funeral services were held July 22 at Main St. Church of Christ. Bro. Barry Kennedy and Bro. Larry McDuffee officiated, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

Hester Lucille Campbell, 86, of Crossville, passed away July 20, 2014, at Cumberland Medical Center.The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, with Bro. Joe Campbell and Bro. Stanley Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Burgess Cemetery.
