Evelyn Heimann

CROSSVILLE — Sept. 29, 1921—May 14, 2014

Evelyn “Evie” Collette Haiar Heimann, 92, of Davenport, IA, passed into eternal life May 14, 2014. A memorial Mass will be held May 21 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf, IA, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in in St. Francis of Assisi Columbarium, Fairfield Glade, TN, at a later date.

Mrs. Heimann was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Humphrey, NE, the daughter of John and Margaret Huthmacher Haiar.

Mrs. Heimann was a loving wife and mother. She was a homemaker, Avon representative for almost 50 years, and served for 11 years as postmistress at Fairfield Glade, TN. She enjoyed her family, church, activities, golf, bridge, and square dancing.

Survivors include her children: daughters, Donna Jean (Gene) Loverich of Flagstaff, AZ, and Darlene (Frank) Guffey of Bettendorf, IA; sons, Dean (Ila Jean) Heimann of Menifee, CA, Douglas (Ramona) Heimann of Murfreesboro, TN, and Dr. Doyle (Wendy) Heimann of Westmont, IL; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Florence “Flo” Heimann; her sister, Helen Meyer; and brothers, Jack, Raymond, Brother Allan O.F.M, Joseph, and Francis Haiar.

Her family wishes to thank the staff at Davenport Lutheran Home in Davenport, especially those in the Special Care Unit, where Evie spent six of her last seven years, the caring staff at St. Francis Chateau where Evie spent her last few weeks, and the many Genesis Hospice staff who made her last few days more comfortable.

Runge Mortuary and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, with Bro. Joe Campbell and Bro. Stanley Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Burgess Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today, July 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with the service at noon at the funeral home. Bro. Chip Meadows will officiate and burial will be in Haley's Grove Cemetery in Crab Orchard.
