Memorial services for Dr. David E. Campbell, of Crossville, will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 3, 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Dr. Campbell was born Sept. 12, 1941, in Falls City, NE, to Edward A. and Helen McCullough Campbell, growing up in Longview, TX. He passed away on July 29, 2013 in Crossville, TN.
Dr. Campbell graduated from The University of the South, Sewanee, TN, in June 1963 with a B.A. in chemistry. In 1967, he graduated from The University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, with his Doctorate of Medicine. He completed his internship and general surgery residency in 1972 at University of Tennessee Hospitals in Memphis. He was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society as well as many other college and medical school organizations. In 1968, he married Dorothy Moffatt.
From September 1972 to August 1974, Dr. Campbell served as a major in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. as a surgeon in Seoul, Korea, at the 121st Evac Hospital and Fort McPherson Army Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He received an honorable discharge in January 1975.
Crossville was blessed to have Dr. Campbell join the medical staff at Cumberland Medical Center in August 1974 where he practiced until May 2004 in general surgery and family medicine. While at Cumberland Medical Center, he served as chief of surgery, chairman of emergency room committee, ACLS provider and instructor, ATLS provider and remained as a consultant after retiring. He was also a clinical instructor for the Dept. of Surgery, University of Tennessee, Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN.
He was a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons; a member of The Southeastern Surgical Congress, Tennessee Medical Association, and Cumberland County Medical Society. Dr. Campbell enjoyed becoming a pilot, gardening, traveling, bridge, scuba diving, a good gin and tonic and an ever-present quest for the best French onion soup. He was a life-long fan of the Texas Longhorns and the Lady Vols.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dotti Campbell of Crossville; daughter, Tracey M. Campbell of Mongomery, AL; and son, E. Scott Campbell of Washington, DC.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Earle Phillips Jr., born Columbus, OH, 1922, passed away Nov. 29, 2013, in Atlanta, GA. A memorial service is planned for early spring at the Fairfield Glade Methodist Church in Fairfield Glade. It will be announced at a later date.
Barbara Ann (Stuhlmacher) Heeschen, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away peacefully at home Dec. 1, 2013, after a 20-year struggle with heart disease and ensuing complications.

Christopher Lynn Dishman
Dear, beloved son, brother, uncle, father and friend Christopher Lynn Dishman was born Sept. 21, 1970, in Muncie, IN, to Steve and Janet Dishman. The Lord and Savior took him Dec. 8, 2013. Family will receive friends today, Dec. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday 1 p.m. with Bro. Donnie Bell officiating. Burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Joyce Burgess Croft
Joyce Burgess Croft, 70, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 5, 2013. Funeral services were held Dec. 8 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Pastor Steven Pickard officiated, with burial in the Allen Springs Cemetery.
Camille Barnwell Combs, 48, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 4, 2013. Funeral services were held Dec. 7 at Pine Grove Church of God of Prophecy. Bro. Jack Lawson officiated, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
A memorial service was held Dec. 6 at Trinity Tabernacle for Billy Kay Jones, who passed away at home Nov. 29, 2013, at the age of 58.
John William "Bill" Irvin, 85, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 2, 2013, at his home. A memorial service will be held today, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Tansi Community Church, with Dr. Paul Dixon officiating. Family will receive friends on Tuesday at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Cumberland County.
Roger Morris Goss, 65, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 1, 2013, at Renaissance Terrace in Harriman. Funeral services were held Dec. 5 at Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Jonathan Loveday officiating. Interment was in Price Cemetery.
