Elmer C. Dickenson
May 19, 1928 — June 24, 2007
Elmer Clyde Dickenson, 79, of Crossville, passed away June 24, 2007. Funeral services were conducted June 27 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Bro. Dennis Lovell officiating. Special music was by granddaughter Jessica Stephens. Burial was in Crossville City Cemetery.
Mr. Dickenson was born May 19, 1928, in West Dante, VA, the son of Preston and Bertha Mullins Dickenson.
He was owner of Dickenson Manufacturing, having been in business in the county for many years. He loved music, having been an original Lantana Rambler where he played guitar and was lead singer. He never met a stranger and everyone who knew him loved his great sense of humor and willingness to help. He was proud of his family and loved them all so very much.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Sherrill Dickenson of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence and Susie Dickenson, Elmer Dickenson Jr., James and Debra Dickenson and Larry and Pam Dickenson, all of Crossville; stepson, Wayne Sherrill of Crossville; daughters, Linda Dickenson and Wanda Garrett of Crossville; stepdaughter, Loretta Vanwinkle of Crossville; sisters, Iona Steffey of St. Paul, VA and Ina Mae Wright of Norton, VA; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Elzie, Charles and Emory Dickenson.
His sons and grandsons served as pallbearers.
Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC was in charge of the arrangements.

Doris M. Nafe (née Robbins, Ashburn) passed away June 24, 2007. Visitation was held June 28 from 2-9 p.m. with 7 p.m. VFW/Legion Ladies Auxiliary services. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, at 11:30 a.m. at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, 23720 Farmington Rd. (just north of Grand River), downtown Farmington (248-474-5200). Interment will be at the Great Lakes National Veterans Cemetery in Holly, MI.
Mrs. Nafe was the beloved wife of Geo. "Skip"; loving mother of Carol (Bob) Paine, Norma Robbins, Vicki (Craig) Petrowski, Tammy Richardson and Larry Hayner; dear sister of Clara Williams, Edith Griffin, Bill (Ora) Ashburn, Bobby Ashburn, Jerry Ashburn, Roger Ashburn and Charlotte Adams; cherished grandmother of 10, great-grandmother of seven.
