Albin M. Anderberg

Oct. 4, 1923 — April 8, 2006

Albin M. Anderberg, 82, of Fairfield Glade, passed away on April 8, 2006. A memorial service was held on April 11 at Fairfield Glade Community Church.

Mr. Anderberg was born on Oct. 4, 1923 in Detroit, MI, to Albin and Elsie Anderberg.

He served in the United States Army during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was vice president of the mortgage department of First Federal Savings and Loan, Assn. in Detroit, MI. He was with the company for 34 years. After retiring in 1985, he and his wife moved to Fairfield Glade. He was a member and past president of both the Detroit Kiwanis Club #1 and the Crossville Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma Anderberg, of Fairfield Glade; son, Erik Anderberg of Franklin, MA; son and daughter-in-law, Paul Anderberg and Susie McCoy of Crossville, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John LaPrise, of Morristown, TN; six grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairfield Glade Community Church, 521 Snead, Fairfield Glade, TN 38558, the Morristown West High School Band Boosters, attn. Paula Waldron, 1063 Hickory View Drive, Morristown, TN 37814 or the charity of your choice.



Johnny P. Ledbetter

Sept. 4, 1939 — April 8, 2006

Johnny Prentice Ledbetter, 66, of Crossville, passed away April 8, 2006. Funeral services were held April 10 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Bro. Mike Kerley officiated, with burial in Oakalona Cemetery in Rickman, TN. Full military honors were given.

Mr. Ledbetter was born Sept. 4, 1939, in Overton County, the son of James Robert and Malissia Neal Ledbetter.

He was retired after 32 years from GTE as a construction supervisor and was employed with C&S Construction for five years. He was also a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during Korea. He enjoyed listening to Southern gospel and old country music and loved hunting and fishing. UT sports were a favorite passion, being the avid sports fan that he was, but his grandchildren and family were the love of his life.

Although the past several years in life were complicated with health problems, he never lost his zest for life. Family and friends were always important to him and his time was spent focusing on what he could do for others. He loved to gather everyone together to go out for dinner and spend time with those important to him. He was always busy working and never let his injuries get in the way. His smile was contagious and he brought joy and laughter to all those around him. Everyone who knew Johnny was touched by him in some special way and he will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Survivors include his loving wife, Earlene Dale Ledbetter of Crossville; son, Johnny Randall Ledbetter and wife Wendy of Adairsville, GA; grandsons, Johnny Randall Ledbetter II and Landon Prentice Ledbetter; brothers, McCoy Ledbetter and wife Reba, Thomas Ledbetter and wife Lida, all of Sterling Heights, MI and Robert Frank Ledbetter and wife Sandy of Livingston, TN; sisters, Reba Koontz and husband Charles of Vonore, TN, Ruth Roberson and husband Charles of Rickman, TN, Flossia Bowman and husband Rastus, also of Rickman, and Betty Walker and husband Larry of Kingston; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Willie Hugh and Reba Dale of Livingston and Leon and Opal Dale of Rickman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Aaron Ledbetter, Luther Lee Ledbetter and Perry Ledbetter; sisters, Opal Ledbetter, Katherine Ledbetter and Louise Netherton; and sisters-in-law, Hazel LaPointe and Maxine Walker.

Pallbearers were McCoy Ledbetter, Thomas Ledbetter, Robert Frank Ledbetter, Lloyd Walker, David Bruce and Greg Lack.

In lieu of flowers the family has respectfully asked that donations be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church or Hospice of Cumberland County

James R. McCoy

June 9, 1945 — April 7, 2006

James Richard McCoy, 60, of Manchester, TN, passed away April 7, 2006. Funeral services were conducted April 10 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Bro. Jim Hodge and Bro. Benny Benjamin officiating. Special music was provided by Norm Finney. Burial was in Sletvett Cemetery in Cumberland County.

Mr. McCoy was born June 9, 1945 in Crossville, the son of Charles and Amanda McCoy.

He attended First Church of the Nazarene in Manchester. He was an electrician at Arnold Air Force Base for 38 years, was a Mason for 40 years and enjoyed hunting, four-wheeling and being a cattle farmer. He was first and foremost a family man.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Carey McCoy; sons, Rick (Lisa) McCoy and Ray (Traci) McCoy, all of Manchester; daughter, Anna (Carson) McAfee of Manchester; grandchildren, Jacob McCoy, Caleb McAfee, Lucas McAfee, Chad McCoy and Kyle McCoy; brother, Harrison McCoy; and sister, Hattie Neal.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew, Anderson and Theodore; and sisters, Nora, Mabel and Dorothy.

Pallbearers were Mike Neal, Gary Neal, John Swallows, Carson McAfee, Doyle McCoy and Ray McCoy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you donate a children's book to the local library or school.

Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.



Frank McLenon

Feb. 23, 1927 — April 7, 2006

Col. Frank "Col. Buzz" McLenon, 79, of Crossville, passed away April 7, 2006. Funeral services were conducted April 10 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Ralph Reagan officiating. Full military honors were provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Mr. McLenon was born Feb. 23, 1927 in Gibraltar, MI, the son of George and Beatrice (Springstein) McLenon.

A United States Marine Corps fighter pilot, he fought in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He flew the P51 Mustang and the Vought Corsair; his aircraft was known as "Col. Mac's Whistling Death." He was in the Marine Corps for 33 years.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Quiet Birdmen, Soldier of Fortune and was a Boy Scouts of America leader. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth.

Survivors include his wife, Monique McLenon of Crossville; children, Marina Thomas and Danny C. Thomas; brothers, Michael McLenon of Gibraltar, MI and Kerry McLenon of Grosse Ile, MI; sister, Lenora Barna of Detroit, MI; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 18 nieces and nephews; special friend, Major Steven N. Stevens of Rutledge, FL; and caregivers, Leaf Austin and Stacie Sweat.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Timothy McLenon.

Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
