Gail C. Gutierrez
Nov. 4, 1946 — March 14, 2007
Gail Carey Gutierrez, 60, of Fairfield Glade, passed away March 14, 2007. Funeral services were conducted March 19 at Grace Community Church, with the Rev. Donald Griffis officiating. Burial was in Crossville City Cemetery.
Ms. Gutierrez was born Nov. 4, 1946, in Hartford, CT, the daughter of William B. and Clemence Starr Carey.
She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Community Church. She will be remembered as a very elegant lady who was always a friend to those who knew her. She was an excellent seamstress and was an avid reader, especially of spiritual books. She enjoyed music of all kinds and loved to dance.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Gutierrez of Raleigh, NC, Jon and Jennifer Gutierrez of Hartford, CT, and Scott Gutierrez and Jennifer Schumacher of Herber City, UT; grandson, Dino Gutierrez of Herber City, UT; father of her sons, Tom Gutierrez of Raleigh, NC; brother, William Carey of Salisbury, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ed Balavender of Palm Bay, FL; nephews, Barry and Brad Balavender; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers were Scott Gutierrez, Michael Gutierrez, Jon Gutierrez, Barry Kaslick, Alex Stuart and Rex Stoll.

Rebecca L. Hale
Sept. 23, 1960 — March 20, 2007
Rebecca Lee Hale, 46, of Crossville, passed away March 20, 2007. Funeral services were conducted March 23 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Bro. Garland Lindburg officiating. Burial was in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Ms. Hale was born Sept. 23, 1960, in Pensacola, FL, the daughter of James and Joy McMullin Hale.
She was employed for 15 years as a computer programmer with Red Cats. She graduated from high school on the deck of the USS Lexington aircraft carrier in Pensacola, lettering in softball, and later received her bachelor's degree in accounting. She achieved many accomplishments in life such as completing three marathons, serving on the board of directors for a children's day care and teaching the English language to a Chinese lady. She loved to do volunteer work and making baskets for children and day cares in Indiana.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Joy and Butch Jones of Pensacola, FL; daughters, Allison and Ashley Hale of Crossville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Faith Hale and David and Marsha Jones, all of Crossville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy and Al Gregg and Sherry and Jeff Gauthier, all of Milton, FL, Crystal and Bob Ross of Pensacola and Cindie and Jack Johnson of Crossville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Hale.
Pallbearers were David Jones, Jimmy Hale, Matthew Hale, Jason Hancock, Max Etheridge and Eric Johnson.

Elmer G. Leedy
Sept. 28, 1935 — March 19, 2007
Elmer George Leedy, 71, of Crossville, passed away March 19, 2007. Funeral services were conducted March 22 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Tony Wilson officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery.
Mr. Leedy was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Jonesville, VA, the son of Milliard Went and Velty Lee (Kelly) Leedy.
He was retired from General Motors and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Donna (Hassler) Leedy of Crossville; daughters, Terri Presley of Brunswick, ME and Georgia Suzette Leedy of Salyersville, KY; son, Anthony Leedy of Urbana, OH; granddaughter, Tiffany Kemp of Miamisburg, OH; sisters, Margie Ellen Leedy, Vernette Leedy, Nellie Sue Leedy and Mary Alice Leedy; and brothers, Charles Delbert Leedy, Burly Niel Leedy, John Wilbur Leedy, Benny Thomas Leedy, Rufus Winston Leedy and Billy Kenneth Leedy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Goldie Mae Leedy, Merita Ellen Leedy and Ruben Lee Leedy; and brother, Robert Aleck Leedy and Cecil Ray Leedy.

Alta D. Ozment
Jan. 27, 1928 — March 16, 2007
Alta Delores Ozment, 79, of Fairfield Glade, formerly of Clarksville, passed away March 16, 2007. Memorial services were conducted March 21 at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Max Mayo and the Rev. Lanita Pride officiating. Burial was in Fort Donelson National Cemetery in Dover, TN.
Mrs. Ozment was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Swiss, WV, the daughter of Noble Orda and Irene Dyke Parsons.
She had worked as an admissions clerk at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, KY, and as a manager in the drapery department at Sears in Clarksville. She was also a member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.
She had many hobbies, some of which included bowling, reading, crafts and collecting gingerbread men and roosters. She enjoyed gardening also, and geraniums were her favorite flower. She loved to play golf which made the time she spent being a golf ranger at Swan Lake Golf Course in Clarksville even more pleasurable.
She and her husband, who retired from the U.S. Air Force, spent lots of time traveling together, something she enjoyed so much. She will always be remembered for all the loving and caring years she spent as a counselor at Camp Rainbow for terminally ill children in Clarksville.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Noble James and Terri Ozment of Helotes, TX, and Walter James Ozment III of Nashville; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Jane "Peggy" and Otis Truxton of Fairfield Glade and Sharon Rose and Tommy Haynes of Old Hickory; sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Jack Dorsey of Mt. Nebo, WV; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Walter James Ozment Jr.

Mary Jean "Cookie" Pendergrass, 60, of Crossville, passed away March 22, 2007. Funeral services were conducted March 24 from the chapel of Putnam-Reed Funeral Home of Pikeville, with burial in Pendergrass Cemetery.
Mrs. Pendergrass attended Main Street Church of Christ in Crossville.
Survivors include her husband, Freddy Pendergrass of Crossville; daughter, Nicholle Pristas of Philadelphia, PA; son, Matthew Schoenig of Philadelphia, PA; stepdaughter, Jodie Holt of Crossville; stepson, Brandon Pendergrass of Pikeville; seven grandchildren; sister, Barbara Weaver of Lindenhurst, IL; and numerous family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Walter Oretga; and brother, Jerry Oretga.

Royce E. Spitler
Aug. 17, 1935 — March 22, 2007
Royce E. Spitler, 71, of Fairfield Glade, formerly of New Lebanon, OH, passed away March 22, 2007. Graveside services were held March 25 at Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, OH, with Pastor Manfred Schreyer presiding.
Mr. Spitler was born Aug. 17, 1935, in New Lebanon, OH, the son of the late Russell and Josephine (Penrod) Spitler.
He retired from Delco-Moraine in 1992 after 40 years of service and moved to Fairfield Glade the following year. He enjoyed golfing and outdoor activities and was a member of the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Doris A. (Brower) Spitler, whom he married July 24, 1953; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Bob Furrey of Eaton, OH; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Patti Spitler of Fairfield Glade; grandchildren, Lori Trunck and husband Scott, Bob Furrey Jr., Christopher Spitler and Nicole Spitler; and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden Trunck and Tiara Furrey.

John F. Stewart, 86, of Pleasant Hill, passed away March 20, 2007. Funeral services were conducted March 23 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Harris and Geneva Harris officiating. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Williamsburg, KY.
Mr. Stewart was born April 24, 1920, in Louisville, KY, the son of Benjamin and Fannie (Stuart) Stewart.
He was an independent food broker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Millie (Anderson) Stewart of Pleasant Hill; daughter, Brenda Asher of Lake Orion, MI; son, Richard Stewart of Brookfield, CT; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Stewart; and brothers, Frank Stewart, Bobby Stewart, Ronnie Stewart and Bond Stewart.

Mr. True was born Feb. 1, 1972, in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, the son of David and Sue Ann (Flynn) True.
He was employed at Delbar Products, Inc.
Survivors include his mother, Sue Ann (Flynn) True of Crossville; sister, Leshawn Bilbrey of Crossville; niece and nephew, Travis and Summer Lynn Isles of Crossville; and uncles, Louis True of Rockford, IL, Robert Webb of Crossville and Gordon Flynn of Elyria, OH.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Louis True; and grandparents, Louis and Mabel (Stevens) True and Lee and Hattie (Hamby) Flynn.
