The Exchange Club/Stephens Center sponsored by the Lake Tansi Exchange Club has opened a new office at 129 Birchwood Lane in Crossville, TN. They are proud to announce the opening of the Healthier Beginnings Program. This program will serve first time moms and teen moms with a free in-home visitation program.

The Healthier Beginnings Program is a home-visitation program designed to help first-time parents and teen parents give their children a healthy beginning through weekly home-visits that provide emotional support that help parents learn practical skills to cope with the new job of parenting. The program emphasizes a nurturing relationship between parent and child, developmental activities and screenings, immunizations, well-child check-ups, and school readiness.

The Exchange Club/Stephens Center also houses the Friends for Families Program which is also a home-visitation program serving families who have at least one child in the home who is twelve or younger.  A center staff member or trained volunteer parent aide visits weekly in the home of families at-risk of child abuse or neglect to teach positive, non-violent parenting skills, discipline, and communication.

The Parent-Child Connection Program is a parenting class employing video-based instruction, facilitated group discussion, and peer support. Parent-Child Connection offers parents, or anyone in a parenting role, a chance to learn practical parenting techniques and enhance their communication with their children.

All these services are free to the public and are strictly confidential and voluntary.

On April 30 from 1-4 p.m. there will be an open house at the new Exchange Club/Stephens Center Office located at 129 Birchwood Lane, Crossville.

Please come and meet the staff and learn about the free programs and enjoy light refreshments and a gift for the children. Drawings for door prizes will be at 3 p.m. You must be present to win.
