Cumberland County is continuing to grow by leaps and bounds with several new subdivisions and property developments each year.

Monday evening members of the Cumberland County Regional Planning Commission approved several residential plats for subdivisions during its monthly meeting.

Committee members approved final plats for both Catoosa Ridge Phase I and Pase II. Phase I includes 53 lots on 94.18 acres and is located just off Hwy. 127 N. Phase II of the development includes 24 lots 84.20 acres. The developer for both phases of the development is Glenn Clark. The property was surveyed and presented to the committee by Tim Goad. Phase II, which includes a curve with a steep embankment, was approved subject to Clark having a guardrail installed on the curve.

Phase II was approved after a motion was made by 1st District County Commissioner Harry Sabine. The motion was supported by 9th District Commissioner Clyde Cramer.

Phase I was approved after a motion was made by committee member Randy Boston. Boston's motion was supported by Cramer.

A final plat for the Hickory Ridge subdivision Block 4 in Fairfield Glade was also approved after a motion was made by Cramer. Cramer's motion was supported by committee member Art Meharg. The subdivision consists of 31 lots on 17.37 acres and is located just off Catoosa Blvd. and Hickory Ridge Lane.

Several preliminary plats were also approved for new subdivisions at the meeting.

The committee approved River Hollow Acres off Funnel Creek Rd. and Mayland Pleasant Hill Rd. The subdivision consists of 24 lots on 154 acres. It is being developed by Plateau Properties. The committee did grant a variance for a 1,200 foot cul-de-sac, but will require a turn around spot approximately half way through the street.

The committee also approved The Bluffs Phase I preliminary plat consisting of 23 lots on 16.17 acres off Catoosa Blvd. in Fairfield Glade. The property is being developed by Fairfield Glade.

Also approved was a 6-lot preliminary plat for 6 lots on 4.86 acres off Highland Lane for developers Wayne and Jennifer Rappold.

Members of the Cumberland County Regional Planning Commission include Randy Boston, Harry Sabine, Kenneth Burnett, John Crowder, Cumberland County Mayor Brock Hill, Martha Hale, Clyde Cramer and Art Meharg.

A moment of silence was observed at the beginning of the meeting to pay respects to the late Dr. Donathan Ivey, who recently passed away. Ivey was a member of the committee for many years.
