Cumberland County Mayor Brock Hill, Sheriff Butch Burgess and the Cumberland County Commission will hold a ground breaking ceremony for the addition to the Cumberland County Justice Center Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 at 9 a.m. at the Justice Center at 90 Justice Dr.

With an estimated completion date of late spring 2009, the $13 million addition will consist of a new 100-bed inmate housing pod, holding facilities for female and male defendants, three jury deliberation rooms and four courtrooms.

The project will also include renovation of the old Cumberland High School. The facility will provide judge's chambers and office space for the General Sessions Court judge, Clerk and Master, Circuit Court Clerk and youth services officer.

The public is welcome to attend the event.
