Last Tuesday turned out to not be burglary and assault suspect Larry D. Durbin's day. It wasn't such a great day for his victim, either. Both were arrested.
Durbin, 38, 129 Skyline Dr., is facing aggravated burglary, domestic assault, aggravated criminal trespass and theft of property charges.
His ex-girlfriend, Lillian L. Hitchcock, 28, 12 Aster St., was arrested on a local warrant on a charge not listed in the report and on an outstanding warrant from Wilson County.
The pair crossed paths with police shortly before 6 a.m. when neighbors on Aster St. called Crossville Police to report a burglary in progress at Hitchcock's home. When officer's arrived on the scene, they found a screen on the ground at the rear of the residence and saw a man they later identified as Durbin fleeing from the scene on foot, according to Ptl. Camden Davis' report.
After a short foot pursuit, Durbin was taken into custody by Ptl. Scott VanRuden.
Hitchcock told police that two days earlier, her ex-boyfriend had been banned from the property. On Tuesday, Durbin allegedly attempted to break into the residence by breaking and climbing through a rear window. During the incident, Hitchcock told police she was struck in the face by Durbin.
She also told police of the outstanding warrants for her arrest.
Once apprehended, Durbin allegedly was found in possession of a stolen credit/debit card which led to the additional charge of theft of property.
Both are scheduled to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court.
