Mayland Senior Center's last meeting was Aug. 10 at 4 p.m.

Barbara Neely, WyndRidge Health and Rehabilitation Center's representative, was in charge of bingo. They furnished all the lovely gifts. Members really appreciate Barbara for coming to Mayland Senior Center. Roy Welch was the bingo caller. Everyone really had a good time.

The meeting was called to order by Leonard Granger, president, with all giving pledge to the flag and singing "God Bless America," led by Barbara Smith.

Vocation was given by Barbara Smith, reading scripture and prayer.

Jessie Williams read the minutes of the last meeting and was approved as read. The treasurer's report was given by Charlotte Mullikin and read as approved.

Mayland Senior Center fish fry was Aug. 17 at 4 p.m. It was a huge success. The country music group was great. Thanks to Jessie and all of the workers that worked to make the fish fry a success.

Senior day will be Wednesday, Aug. 22, at the fairgrounds. The senior center will be closed so everyone can go.

Pioneer Day will be Saturday, Sept. 15, at the fairgrounds.

The buffet was just delicious, with many different dishes and homemade desserts. Ladies, you outdid yourselves again.

The next meeting of the Mayland Senior Center will be Friday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m.

Bingo is at 4 p.m. with Tony Snider, the Woodmen of the World representative in charge and furnishing the gifts. Members look forward to Tony coming to Mayland.

Barbara Smith and sister Oleta Shower are wonderful entertainment that no one wants to miss. They sing so beautifully. Bring a friend to enjoy the meeting and fellowship.

Don't forget the buffet. Bring your favorite dish or casserole and don't forget those desserts. A few meat dishes would be appreciated also.

Dates to remember

Senior citizens meetings are every second and fourth Friday of each month at 4 p.m.

•Country music is every Monday night from 4-8 p.m. All are welcome. Come and enjoy the music. It is free! You can eat with them at 6 p.m. Please bring a dish to share.

•Homemakers meeting is at 6 p.m. the second Monday of each month.

•Mayland Community Organization meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

•Pioneer Day at the fairgrounds is Saturday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

•Mayland Senior Thrift Store will be open Aug. 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
