The 127 Seniors met Friday, July 24, and enjoyed coffee, lots of goodies and conversation. Bingo prizes were furnished by Dr. Galloway of the Cumberland Eye Center, and Carol Kirkland called the numbers.

The regular meeting was called to order by president Shirley Phillips. Joy Moyer led the prayer, and Bob Kirkland led the Pledge of Allegiance. Members were so pleased to have Jack Kirkland visiting with his brother as well as several grandchildren who sure made everyone remember "when we were young!"

Carol reported of her calls and visits to Glen and Elizabeth Huggins, Herb and Lucille Hofmann, Dorothy Kearley, Millie McCormick, Evelyn Dye and Bill Bullard. Please remember all of them in your thoughts and prayers.

Jan reminded everyone that the Colonial Wlliamsburg trip is being finalized and that she would be getting itineraries out to everyone soon. The cost is $385 per person double occupancy so come join the trip by calling Jan at 788-3667.

The preparations for the 127 Corridor Sale on Aug. 6, 7 and 8 are well under way, with Rachel acting as chairwoman of that event. Rachel had the absolutely beautiful quilt that is being raffled off during the sale to show members. Emil asked for volunteers after the meeting July 31, 8 a.m. Aug. 1, 3, 4 and 5 to help with various parts of the setup and labeling for the sale. There is lots of work to be done, so please come out on any of these times and give them a hand.

Members were reminded that there will be no bluegrass on July 30 or Aug. 6 due to the sale. Food City and Kroger coupons are always available at the center.

The program was then turned over to Vickie Myers, RN of the cardiac rehabilitation department at Cumberland Medical Center. Vickie provided everyone with the details of all the risk factors for heart disease and things they can do to alleviate them. She answered many questions from the floor about product labeling, salt reduction, exercise, etc. Cardiac and pulmonary rehab programs are available with a physician's order and last 12 weeks. This was very informative and everyone thanked Vickie for sharing these details with them.

After the blessing by Rose Garchow, the members enjoyed a great lunch of grilled reubens, many casseroles, vegetables, salads and desserts under the able hands of Jan Neitzke and the kitchen helpers. Please be reminded that July 31, being the last Friday of the month, we will be having sandwiches, salads and desserts only. No hot dishes will be used. See you all then and have a great week.
