Ruth Hendricks was recently honored by the Crab-Orchard Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution for her years of service to the chapter. Hendricks joined the Crab-Orchard Chapter in 1952 as a charter member through her patriot ancestor, James Jones. Jones served with the Light Horse Cavalry during the Revolutionary War in 1777 from Wake Co., NC. Two hundred years later in 1977, Hendricks became the treasurer of the Crab-Orchard Chapter where she continuously served through May 2007. In addition to serving 30 years as treasurer, faithful attendance at meetings and support of all the various projects characterized her service. She was presented an engraved crystal vase for her years of loyalty and dedicated service to the chapter and to the objects of the national society of patriotism, education, and preservation.
