Excellent entertainment at the second annual Amateur BBQ Cookoff will be provided by DSquared Productions, a non-profit performing arts organization.

The second annual Amateur BBQ Cookoff will be held May 16 on the grounds at Wildwood Stables located at the corner of Chestnut Hill Rd. and Westchester Dr. in Fairfield Glade. Amateur barbecuers will compete in four categories — pulled pork, pork ribs, chicken and best sauce, for $2,100 in cash prizes. Since there is no entry fee for competing this year, Creative Compassion, Inc. and Wildwood Stables are expecting several entries. For more information, you can call Wildwood Catering at 707-0736 or view Creative Compassion, Inc.’s Web site at

The public will be invited to sample the barbecue entries and will vote for the best overall "BBQ Champion." The event will start at noon and last until 5 p.m. and will cost $6 per person or $10 for two adults and two children. Pony rides and drinks will be available.

In addition to all the activities going on at Wildwood Stables on May 16, the Bitter Creek Rangers, an Old West re-enactment group, will be at the farm.

Of course, the entire event is to raise money to help low- to moderate-income families obtain adequate housing. Founded in 1989, Creative Compassion, Inc. is a faith-based, non-sectarian, non-profit certified by THDA as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) that specializes in new home construction, repair and remodeling and multi-family housing for low- to moderate-income families.
