Vickie Myers, R.N., spoke to the Fairfield Glade Rotary Club about CMC's cardio/pulmonary rehabilitation services.

As the old L.A. Sun would start describing a wedding the the society pages, it would commence with the bride moving forward and "a nervous titter engulfed the guests."

This might describe the effect on Rotary after Don Howells introduced the speaker, Vickie Meyers, RN. She is a graduate of Roane State and a team coordinator at CMC's cardiac/pulmonary rehab since 1987.

With the rumbling from the skies and the prediction of showers, Vickie was like a gorgeous spring day, and we learned the following.

•Live life actively.

•Pulmonary rehabilitation has been a service of CMC for 20 years. The program begins with the patient's physician and continues with the professional staff's extension of the referring physician's care through continued progress reports for the period while the patient is still in the hospital. The program consists of two monitored exercise sessions each day and continues until the patient is discharged from the hospital.

•Phase 2 is a hospital-based, out-patient program, consisting of monitored exercise therapy, health education and individualized and group support sessions.

Vickie, you charmed us, for which we thank you and pray that God's presence will go with you and your family, especially when you ride your motorcycle.
