The Cumberland County Elks Lodge 2751 added five new members in August. Exalted Ruler Jim Anderson was on hand to welcome and encourage them to become active with the various projects of the lodge. Anderson commented, "There is much to do each month for our fine community and service help is always needed for our social programs. So, please don't wait to be asked to serve, just check around and volunteer a few hours. You will be glade you did."

The new members are as follows:

Tim Buckland was born and raised in Carbondale, PA. He retired and moved to our area in 2005 from Leesburg, FL with his wife, Madelyn. Tim is currently a realtor with USA Realty in Fairfield Glade. He was proposed for membership by Eugene Fortson.

Ronald Laubham was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He and his wife, Kari, moved to our area in 2006 from Livingston, TX. Ron and Kari are now enjoying retirement in our wonderful area. William Goss sponsored Ron for membership.

David Leffew was born and raised in Crossville. He is presently employed by Cumberland County Maintenance. He and his wife, Melissa, reside in Crossville. David Boles proposed Ron for membership.

Robert Mourey came into this world in Burlington, NJ. He is married to wife Jean, and they live in Crossville. Don McDermott proposed Bob for membership.

Andy Tyler spent his birth and upbringing in Phoenix, AZ. He was with the Oregon Department of Correction in Salem before retiring to Sweeden, KY in 2001. Andy and his wife, Peggy, moved to our area in 2006. Jim Affinito sponsored him for membership.

Membership in the Elks is opened to both men and women. You must be 21 years old or older, a U.S. citizen and believe in God. There are many community projects that benefit the youth and adults in our county. In addition, there are monthly social activities to help you meet fellow Elks. The Elks Lodge is located at 1145 Genesis Road. Stop by or call 484-0150 for any additional information. Business hours are noon to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
