The Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church, in partnership with the Fairfield Glade Resident Services and the Good Samaritan Society – Fairfield Glade, is proud to present the “2013 Community Health and Wellness Fair” to be held May 7 and 8 at the beautiful new home of the Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church located at 130 Towne Centre Way, Fairfield Glade, Tenn.

The Fairfield Glade First Baptist church will host the most comprehensive health fair of its kind ever to be held in this community. Most every aspect of health care for the entire family will be covered involving dozens of health care specialists from around Eastern Tennessee. This day and a half health fair will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7 with a general welcome session in their fellowship hall. Breakout sessions will then occur throughout the morning so you can attend the ones most meaningful to you. Topics for the morning include early signs of heart attack, diabetes and you, weight management, physical therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation and Fairfield Glade Resident Services. A question and answer session will follow each presentation. On Tuesday, plan on staying for lunch as a chef salad luncheon will be made available to you at a nominal cost. The afternoon sessions start at 1 p.m. commencing in the fellowship hall for a brief talk on family and body. The remainder of the afternoon breaks out again into individual sessions on subjects such as Alzheimer’s, stroke prevention, home safety and security, mental health, self maintenance and a panel on diabetes. And that’s not all. An evening session on Tuesday beginning with “Reflections on Behavioral Health” will break out into sessions on the effects of smoking, managing conflict, healthy eating counts, self image for girls, social media and Boys 2 Men. You will leave Tuesday evening feeling better about yourself and knowing more on the ways to remain healthy. Remember, this health fair is for everyone, the young, seniors, parents, residents and guests. So bring the entire family. And best of all, it’s free.

Wednesday Morning is dedicated to the topic of cancer. Following a general session with Jordan Johnson, MSHA, BSRT – The Director of CMC Cancer Center the breakout sessions will involve lung, breast, blood, prostate and colon cancers. A session on general Oncology will also be presented.

All presenters are qualified experts trained to speak in their area of expertise. Each session will last 30 minutes followed by a 15 minute Q & A. Another 15 minutes will be available to visit the many display/information tables and get your health screenings. Yes, of course, there will be screenings at this health fair. Come get checked out for blood pressure, vision and receive vouchers for free hearing tests. Free massages will be given at all three sessions on Tuesday. So come early and sign up.

The three presenting organizations are grateful to the dozens of doctors, nurses and healthcare specialists who are giving of their time to make this health fair one of a kind. You will also have a chance to visit over 20 displays presented by local organizations who will be present throughout the two days.
