Jameson, Seiber step up at Sportsman Club shoot
The threat of rain may have reduced the normal field of shooters at the Sportsman Club’s third Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) event of the year June 28, but a few drops of rain didn’t deter Knoxville’s Jim Jameson from winning both the singles and handicap events.
Tourney to benefit United Fund
The fourth annual United Fund Golf Tournament, sponsored by First Cumberland Mortgage, will be Saturday, Aug. 23, at Dorchester Golf Course in Fairfield Glade. Check-in is at 12:30 p.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The cost for the four-person scramble is $240 per team or $60 per person.
Stroke play tournament washed out Sunday
The second Cumberland County stroke play golf tournament was reduced to a one-day tournament, after rain washed out Sunday's second round at Heatherhurst Golf Course, using Saturday's scores from Lake Tansi to determine the winners.
Lady Jets post 40-2 record in June
The 2014-2015 CCHS Lady Jets basketball teams — varsity and junior varsity — recently travelled across the state during June, participating in multiple team camps and chalking up several “Ws."
Graduating only one player, Rebekah Teeple, from last year's District 6AAA championship team with an overall 28-6 record, the Lady Jets “claimed victory” over the challenges they encountered at the multiple team camps they attended.
Art Guild set golf fundraiser for July 25
Golfers are needed to fill the course for the Art Guild Golf Fundraiser July 25. There will be a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start on the Heatherhurst Brae Golf Course. The cost for each golfer to enter is $75 which includes the 18 holes of golf, a wonderful luncheon at the Fairfield Glade Conference Center immediately after golf, plus a “unique silent auction." The auction is open to the public and will start at noon and conclude at 2:30 p.m. Included in the silent auction items this year are jewelry, a timeshare week, Disney Hopper tickets, Alabama Golf Trail tickets, FFG rounds of golf, original art work, pottery, glassware and many, many more items.
Field filling up for Women's Open
The field for the 16th annual Golf Capital of Tennessee Women's Open hosted by the Tennessee Golf Association is 42.4 percent (61 of 144) complete for its July 31-Aug. 2 run at Stonehenge Golf Club in Fairfield Glade. The tournament is a week later than usual.
Golf Capital of Tennessee Junior Tour holds third tourney
The Golf Capital of Tennessee Junior Tour held its third tournament at Heatherhurst June 23 and will finish the season July 7 at Lake Tansi.
17-under-par wins Jets golf tournament
Supporters of the Cumberland County High School football team gathered at Lake Tansi Saturday afternoon to play in the Jets' annual golf tournament.
Cancer Crusade raises $6K

Golf tourney to benefit Brown Elementary set Aug. 6
Brown Elementary will be hosting a fund-raising golf tournament Aug. 6 at the Lake Tansi Golf Course at 1 p.m. The cost for the four-person scramble is $65 per player or $260 per team, which includes green fees, cart, lunch, mulligan and prizes. Lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m.
