The Cumberland County High School Jet freshmen split a pair of games Monday night with Cookeville, as the Jets won 69-46, but the Lady Jets lost 43-32 to the Lady Cavaliers.
Jets 69, Cavaliers 45: Tanner Christopher led the Jets with 18 points, four rebounds, three steals and four assists, while Drew Vaden tallied 13 points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist; Cade Smith added 11 points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists, and Ty Tabor chipped in 10 points and eight boards, as the CCHS rookies opened the season with a victory.
"A great way to open the season. I know this is a coaching cliche', but this was a total team effort. All of the players contributed to a great victory," said Coach Blaine Moore.
Also playing were David Elliot (eight points, four rebounds, three steals, two assists), Jordan Graham (five points, two rebounds, four steals, two assists), Alex Dixon (two points, one rebound, two steals, two assists), Nolan McClain (two points, one rebound, one assist), Wesley Griffis, Jason Hicks and David Hutchens.
The Jets led 15-6 after one quarter, stretched the lead to 36-19 at the break and swelled the lead to 58-34 after three quarters. Cookeville outscored CCHS 12-11 in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Lady Cavaliers 43, CCHS 32: The Lady Cavaliers outscored CCHS 31-20 in the second half to post the come-from-behind victory.

Schedule: After traveling to Coffee County Thursday night for a district contest, the freshmen will host White County Monday and SMHS on Dec. 10.
