SMHS cross country teams finish in fourth Sept. 26

CROSSVILLE — The Stone Memorial cross country teams had another excellent outing Sept. 26 at Norris Dam 5k race.  The girls team finished first and the boys team was third. 

There were 27 teams represented from all over East Tennessee and Kentucky.

For the girls, Hailey Coudriet won the girls race with a time of (20:56).

Caroline Pribanich was second (21:16), followed by Emily Swafford,14th (24:10); Claire Tackett 16th (24:16); Rachel Raulerson, 18th (24:19); Kerigan Smith, 32nd (25:33); Lexi Hinch, 44th (26:20); Kayli Priestwood, 56th (27:38); and Alexandra Anthony, 104th (33:58).

"There were almost 150 runners. The girls ran very well despite a couple with injuries and sickness," said Coach Tim Smith.

For the boys, more than 180 runners ran the 3.1 mile race with Jordan Schroeder leading SMHS with a 21st place finish in 19:34. Rounding out the SMHS contingent were Sam Hagan, 22nd (19:35); John Mathis, 28th (19:52); George Sampley, 29th (19:53); Dawson Hassler, 30th (19:54); Blu Shillings, 35th (20:15); Anthony Spencer, 38th (20:28); Anthony Algeria, 43rd (20:46); Ben Bowman, 46th (20:51); Bailey Davis, 60th (21:25); Chris Brickle, 70th (21:47); Sergio Romo, 102 (23:10); Justin Hall, 105th (23:20); Skylar Hawn 116th (23:46) and Chandler Reed, 146th (25:51).

Stone Memorial will run in the Chattanooga Cross Country League meet today.

    Cody Hedgecoth, the 17-year-old grandson of Peggy and Bobby Houston and son of Missy and William Hedgecoth, won first place in varsity sporting clays at the Tennessee State Championship.  He won by shooting 97 out of 100 clay targets.

    Greg Wyatt fired a three-under-par 69 to lead his team to a 12-under-par 60 to take a three-stroke lead into the final round of the City of Crossville Team Championship Tuesday morning at Lake Tansi.
