CROSSVILLE — Stone Memorial Panther senior Luke Matthews signed a scholarship to continue his basketball career at Bryan College in Dayton. Matthews is one of five seniors at SMHS who will “be looked to play major minutes and to be leaders heading into a tough district,” according to Coach Neil Capps, whose team is now 5-1 on the season. “I am pleased to have this senior class as a whole. It is a tremendous group of young men. They make my job easy to come in and not have to deal with egos and discipline problems.” Matthews is the second Panther to sign during the early signing period, after teammate Justin Simmons signed with Tennessee Wesleyan College during November. Matthews will join former teammates Robert Troino and Brandon Cole and former Jet Caleb Parsons at the Dayton college.
