Jets finish third in Golf Capital Classic

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County High School Jet golf team finished third in the annual Golf Capital Classic played Monday at Lake Tansi Golf Course.

"I'm proud of our team effort today. We played better. Cookeville and Warren County are clearly the two best teams in our district.  Our goal is to be that third team that makes the region from our district.  It's wide open between Rhea County, White County, Stone and CCHS. Logan was up and down early but really settled down an shot even  on the back. Jordan played very steady.  D J and Andrew really helped us out today.  If those two continue to post good scores we will have a chance to compete,"  stated Coach Randy Herring.

The Jets finished with a 322 total, behind Cookeville (308) and Warren County (316). Rounding out the field were Cookeville "B" (323), McMinn County (340), South-Doyle (348), White County (351), Rhea County (359), Stone Memorial (366) and Bradley Central (373).

Individual scores for CCHS were Logan Stewart (75), Jordan Graham (80), D.J. Shelton (79), Chandler Shelton (103) and Andrew Brown (88). The best four scores count in the team total.

Stone McCoy led SMHS with an 89, followed by Dustin Lee (90), George Sampley (91), Parker Hill (96) and Wyatt Smith (101).

Robert Agee of Cookeville was medalist with a 74, while Stewart was second with a 75. Three other players tied with 76s.
