The city of Crossville's men's senior softball teams once again went to the Tennessee Senior Olympics in Franklin, TN, and came home with gold. Two golds in fact, as both the 65+ and the 75+ teams were first in their age brackets. The 50+ team added a second place silver medal to the Crossville collection. All three of these teams have now qualified for the 2013 Senior Games that will take place next year in Cleveland, Ohio.
Crossville's senior men have now won 10 of a possible 13 medals including four golds in the State Olympic Games over the past four years.
All of the more than 100 senior men and women participating in the city of Crossville's senior softball program wish to extend their gratitude the Crossville City Council for its continued support and would also give a very special thank you to the Parks and Recreation Department for providing facilities that are without peer in this state.
As noted last year, Crossville is the "Senior Softball Capital of Tennessee." Many of the players winter in Florida and play softball there but are drawn home to Crossville early each year to participate in this program. Not only does the program attract local players but they now have residents from three surrounding counties driving in and participating not only in softball but also in the local economy.
Crossville seniors would like to invite any interested players to join them each Monday and Thursday at 8:30 a.m. at Centennial Park (weather permitting) throughout the year. Visit them on the web at crossvilleseniorsoftball.blogspot.com.
