CCHS gets ready for region meet


CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County High School cross country teams tuned up for the region meet on Oct. 25, by competing in the Front Runner Athletics Area Cross Country championship at Baylor School in Chattanooga last Thursday.

The Jets finished sixth with 209 points behind McCallie (34), Baylor (87), Dalton (135), Northwest Whitfield (184) and Heritage (205). The third- through fifth-place teams are all from the North Georgia area.

The Lady Jets were ninth, with 246 points, behind Baylor (53), Heritage (68), Rhea County (125), Home School of Chattanooga (137), GPS (153), Northwest Whitfield (159), Signal Mountain (189) and Notre Dame (242).

Ryan Bedgood led the Jets in 17:53.01, followed by Bradley Mathis (18:38.71), Kyle Lockwood (18:45.62), Todd Wisor (18:58.10), A.J. Page (19:02.70), Landon Crawford (19:32.37) and Shawn Foster (20:19.22).

Jennifer Hedgecoth led the Lady Jets in 22:57.88, followed by Caroline Cravens (23:11.08), Selinda Bryant (23:33.45), Lindsey Roysden (23:38.81), Brianna Taylor (24.08.30) and Taylor Hammons (26:01.83).
