Junior varsity basketball season under way


CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County elementary junior varsity basketball schedule opened Thursday night with four double-headers — Brown at Stone, Crab Orchard at South, North at Martin and Homestead at Pleasant Hill.

Below are the only scores received by presstime Monday.

North at Martin

North 40, Martin 10: Justin Headrick tallied 18 points to lead the North Patriot junior varsity over Martin.

M. Thomas led Martin with five points.

North (40): Garrett Magnussen 3, Conner Barnwell 9, Jared VanWinkle 2, Jacob Brown 4, Justin Headrick 18, Ethan Norris 2, Payt Bussey, Zachery Early, Paxton Elmore, Max Cole, Chris Coudriet 2, Cole Bresaw, Harley Conley, Matthew Clanton.

North 34, Martin 14: Emma Capps led the Lady Patriots with 12 points, and Paige Selby added 10 markers.

Shelby Howard led Martin with eight markers.

South 37, Crab Orchard 9: Zach Street tallied 10 points to lead the Rebels over the Tigers.

Clint Kemmer and Ray had four points for the Tigers.

South (37): Davidson 2, Street 10, Herring 4, Wyatt 3, Dykes 6, McCoy 4, Eldridge 2, Reed 4, Parsons 2, Keyes, Davidson, DeMars, Horvath, Davis, Baucum, Day.

Schedule: No games are scheduled this week due to fall break in Cumberland County.
