Tori Harris played in the Regional Golf Tournament Oct.3 in Lenoir City at Wind River Golf Club (formerly Rarity Pointe), and finished with a 112 total.
"If you are familiar with this course, you realize how tough it is. Wind River is by the far the most difficult course any of our golfers played all year," said SMHS Lady Panther Coach Nathan Brown.
"After struggling on the front nine, Tori turned it around and played a solid back nine coming in with a 51. She made great improvements to her golf game over the season and has set herself up for success in the future," added Brown. "It is a major accomplishment for a first-year golfer to make it this far into the post season and I extremely proud of her performance."
The fifth low score for all of the girls' scores yesterday was a 107. Harris only missed advancing to the state tournament by five strokes.
"If you see her, be sure to congratulate her on a solid finish to a great season," concluded Brown, who would like to thank all of her teachers who have dealt with her missing class so frequently at the beginning of school.
