The Stone Memorial High School cheerleaders went to Tennessee Technological University last week for camp.
"I am pleased to say that they made some big accomplishments. They received second place in the Xtreme Rountine Championship, second place in cheer, second place in the Home Pom competition, and the award for most improved. The team also received blue superior ribbons for their cheer, xtreme routine, and home Pom evaluations," said Vanessa Hurley, SMHS cheer coach.
She added, "As a new coach I am working hard to bring back the competitive nature of cheerleading. Bringing home four trophies is a great start. We are training with Stevie's Elite Athletics for our tumbling and competitive choreography. We will be competing in the Smokey Mountain Cheer Competition in December."
A parents night out is set Aug. 10 from 6:30-10 p.m. at Stevie's Elite Athletics to raise funds for the competition.
